Guitar / Las Vegas Cake (2013)
or the "I don't know what to call this cake" Cake
This cake may take a little bit of explaining. We made this cake for a surprise 50th birthday party. The guest of honor is a surgeon who plays in a band, hence the guitar. There is also a scalpel and surgeon's mask that you can't see in the picture. He went to Vegas for his birthday, so that takes care of sign, chips and cards. And one of his favorite things to do is to sail on his yacht, so there's that. Basically, the only people that will truly understand this cake are the people that know the birthday boy. We don't even understand some of the things on it. :)
This was the biggest, most detailed cake we have made so far. Several days of work and a couple of sleepless nights. So of course, the memory card I was using to take most of the pictures quit working and I lost all of the good ones. I am going to try to get pictures from a photographer that was at the party. If so, I will post some more detailed pictures. Here are some close-ups:
